Kafe Kawi in Kuta

Pura gunung kawi one of the oldest temple in bali! Gunung kawi also has a waterfall, the ticket only 4€. There’s an art shop they sell balinese souvenir ! Rice field in there so insanee!!😁🌴

The official parking ticket is 2k, although if you come up from a side street around, you could skip paying that.Got really annoyed that once we parked, because another guy tried to hustle us money for parking again.That basically set the mood as ruined and the 50k entrance ticket definitely wasn't worth it, because you only see two walls with carvings which are beautiful and look good on pictures, but are not worth more than a few snaps.Only thing that we liked was the waterfall at the end of the rice field. On a scorching hot day it was the perfect relief to take a dip.Otherwise, I'd skip this place.

Beautiful temple set amongst the vibrantly green rice paddies. While the architecture and the details on the temple are not as ornate as many others in Bali, the carvings into the giant rock faces are extra unique. The shear size is also quite impressive. There is also a beautiful waterfall on the compound if you hike for a few minutes which is a nice bonus. If you come to Ubud, it is a must!

Been coming to gunung kawi for over 25 years. It is my favorite cultursl site in Bali. Beautiful and worth the visit if you have the stamina

Magical and beautiful!We arrived here quite early and weren't entirely sure what to expect. In the end, we soent about 2 hours exploring the temple and beautiful natural setting.There are many different carvings, shrines and temples. There are waterfalls, forest walkways and viewpoints.If you are a fan of natural beauty and impressive architecture that pays homage to it's surroundings, then this is for you!Again, we suggest coming earlier rather than later. It provides great lighting, cool weather and less crowds.

It was a relatively quiet place to visit, beautiful setting. Ancient temples carved into the rock. A nice place to wonder around.

I really enjoyed my time here. This was a beautiful location and the carvings into the cliff were amazing. There were a lot of stairs to walk down, and back up.The stairs are old concrete type blocks. They are sturdy,wide and there is an old handrail most of the way down. As you walk down towards this site you walk down many stairs, past many stalls selling trinkets, drinks & crafts. I suggest waiting to look or buy anything until you're on the way back, so you don't have to carry whatever you buy.

Awesome temple! Very beautiful and powerful feeling there, big territory, not so much tourists.

The place is great. The ticket for local is 20.000 rupiah and for foreigner 30.000 rupiah. Beautiful place.

Beautiful little Temple hidden in a jungle. There is a serene spring and lots of palm trees and greenery. 50k entry fee. To get to the temple you need to get pass a lot of local shops with "souvenirs"

Very nice and calm in the early morning, beautiful sunrise. Were able to enter before opening and pay the tickets on our way out thanks to some kind local person.

Still my favourite temple in Bali! Set in a valley amongst rice fields with majestic carvings into the cliffs. The little river running through it with the vines from ancient banyan trees. Can get any more "true Bali" than that. Was here more than 10 years ago and just revisited it again. Still magical. Definitely worth a visit

Beautiful grounds to explore with temple. Also has a restaurant and 3 giant swings for those that are game. Lots of stairs down to where the temple is with stalls along the way. I wouldn't suggest people with bad knees attempt the stairs. But if you can it's definitely worth it.

Lovely humble experience with real Indonesian and Balinese people.

Be aware that there will be long flights of stairs (easily 400 steps), climbing down might be easy, but going back up you should prepare yourself especially if you have elderly or young kids with you, or even stroller(not recommended). Make sure u have enough drinking water as well, considering the hot weather and long climbing.You can see rice fields as you go further in, some small waterfalls and finally their big statues and the temple itself. For me, I felt that it wasnt worth the time and effort climbing the stairs to see the temple and statues. This felt more like an exercise trip.

Almost deserted, a glimpse into another world, statues from the 12th century. An air of stillness and tranquillity, with only the sounds of running streams, breaking the silence

This is a place of worship for Hindus. Quiet place. The location is next to a rice field and river. To achieve this temple, we must wear the provide shawl. This temple is under the cliff so it takes more energy to go back from this temple. Don't forget to bring water and an umbrella because the location is quite often rainy.

One of my favourite sites in Bali. Set in a beautiful deep river valley but be warned you will have a hit and somewhat grueling climb back out.

Not so much to see but still a nice place to visit. It was a nice walk and visit, even if it is not the best place to see but it's still a nice visit.

The architecture and the art seems quite spartan compared to religious sights elsewhere in the world. You can go here if you are visiting Tirta Empul nearby, and you might as well cross off spots on your list. There are some nice spots to take pictures.

Very beautiful temple. It's a good trek to the temple via stairs. On a warm day it can get tiring. There is a beautiful stream at the base which is very nice.

My favourite Pura by far. But i have only seen 7 of the bigger and accessible ones of the 60k temples on Bali ;). However this one is relatively old, and remarkable and radiates an ancient 'power'. The experience is still pretty authentic since it is not been discovered by mass tourism yet. The valley it is build in is beautiful and worth a visit on it's own. However, that won't be long. They built a swing....So do go now.

Surprisingly fun. I would absolutely recommend coming here to explore. It has both incredible temples and gorgeous nature. Make sure to explore around the stone carvings as you will find hidden gems.

Gunung Kawi, Mount Kawi is the temple with long stair path and rice fields. There are huge coconut and banana trees. It has entrance fee 50k rupiah per one person like other temples and have to wear Sarong provided in the entrance. You should have strong legs to turn back to outside.

Bit of a climb down the stairs with everyone trying to sell you drinks and souvenirs but on the way up your glad they are there as it's nice to stop for a drink it's a bit of a climb in the heat.The actual temple is amazing too how its carved out of the cliffs. Its 50k to visit which is reasonable to help maintain and protect it.They provide you with sarongs at no extra cost.Worth a visit for sure.

Not a lot of tourists around. It's quite a hike, but really worth it. It was a pretty big place to explore and the views going down are pretty amazing!

A magical location, I almost gave up for when we were walking down the steps that there is nearly 300 steps to reach the Temple, luckily one of the vendors told me to just push through for it is worth the climb up...which I couldn't agree more. We came late in the afternoon so it wasn't hot, the views on your way to the temple is awesome, rice fields, there are shops where you could purchase cild drinks and even cafe over looking a great view. After a 15-20mins walk down you will reach the temple and you could just see it in awe...or at least I was, told myself that it was really worth it

Pretty and full of ancient history, very difficult to climb the stairs with a baby and pram, especially when sun is burning. However overall experience was good. Didn't like very actively pursuing sellers of some "souvenirs". The easiest way is just to ignore and quickly walk. I wanted to buy something, however after so much pursuit I changed my mind and quickly walked to the temple.

Must see, not a lot of tourists come to this temple which makes it even better. Some great detail, I'd recommend you take your driver with if his english is good so that he can explain the history and meaning of it all. Careful not to show any disrespect to the locals though and honour their beliefs.

Out of the main tourist route (big plus for me), rustic temple. Has a hidden beautiful waterfall when you go all the way down then go left. LOTS OF STEPS to get to the temple - probably the reason there's not many visitors. They have a swing there and it was super fun!

It is an awesome temple. It crafted at the rock. You can see it clearly. You will not regret it. A bit advice, if there is a seller offer you to buy some garments, better not to buy. Because the officer will let you to borrow it from them. It's cheaper cause only donation.

This is my 2nd time to visit this amazing archelogical site near Ubud, Bali. Gunung Kawi temple is the oldest temple in Ubud and still have a connection with Tirta Empul temple. They have the same river line! :) Worth it to visit if you are interested about culture and historical! :)

Beautiful temple in Ubud. Stone carved statues and temples. The rice terraces in the surroundings are beautiful.Beware, there are a lot of stairs to go down that you inevitably have to climb back up. I'd say about 150-200 steps.

The temple is cool. But be careful with the sellers around, they try to sell stuff for you. You don’t need a xarong to enter the temple.

Very nice temple so grand and ornate the stairs were easy th climb down but not for the faint hearted also maintenance on the stairs and around the temple is needed due to the steep steps and wet weather my partner took a fall down them but she was ok about bruised but ok

to get to the temple must walk through the stairs, about 20-30 minutes depending on how fit our body. along the way down the stairs we will find some locals who sell souvenirs, traditional food and drinks, and amazing views. and don't forget, there are several sellers who offer shawl cloth to cover our legs, if you are interested, you can buy it, or you can rent it at the ticket window where the ticket price includes the cloth rental service.

What an amazing place to visit. We took a day drive out to the Heritage Site on a quiet morning. After walking a waterfall lined trail past locals selling carvings and textiles from their stalls, you descend down a few flights of stairs to this ancient eden and temple site. It was crazy how much you could access and view. The place is quite magical and interesting for many types of people. I loved the queens walk that was with its streams coming from the mountain. Very romantic.. Sarongs are provided for free (to return) at the entry or you can by one from a stall. Come prepared for the humidity and stairs. I saw some people struggling a lot with this.

Natural, majestic and peacefull

Lovely temple, among the oldest and most significant ones in town. It’s located in a mesmerising setting, blended nicely with nature, plants, flowers and rice terrace and some water fall. A beautiful escape from busy streets/city.
